just before pongal comes the usual news at sastra ....... only one day declared as holiday and no open permission for students visiting their homes.. was a bit dejected on hearing the news.
when my friends kamal n gokul came to know about this , they were like machi why not celebrate pongal here???and tried to change my mood. it was another two days for pongal n we sat there breaking our heads wondering what to do.. we wanted something different to be done. then this idea of kite flying suddenly struck us n then we were like why not include rangoli also specially for girls.
we had only 48 hours to plan n organise the complete thing. so we approached our senior manoj anna, one who can help us out anytime n in any situation.
so we planned n set up our tasks and divided our works amongst us. called upon a few first years n second years to do some volunteering work. major task to get permission from the management. designed this poster n went to get the permission.
just kept our fingers crossed n finally we got the permission for the same. we were on cloud nine, jumping with joy. now started the main task. had to set up the arena , plan everything for the next day like framing the rules n regulations ,inviting jury etc. the materials etc. had to be brought from tanjore. first aid was also to be taken care of. registrations were on n all of us had hectic schedules of classes to be managed along with this work. we kept our fingers crossed hoping that atleast some 200 people turn up for the evnt.
finally the D day arrived n at first there was a small crowd. few kites went up n then a huge rush.
my god i could not believe the situation. total of some 200 kites were sold out within half an hour. n loads of girls tuned up for the rangoli in the traditional sarees.
around 120 teams for kite flying including both girls n boys and around 35 teams for rangoli turned up. so around 1000 people made it to the event. the event was a mega hit.
few snaps ....
in the due course learnt a lot about team work, helping each other out , time management , how to approach different kind of people , what hard work meant n best part enjoyed like hell.
we made a profit after spending a good amount on prizes n also rewarding the volunteers.
so my first salary lol.. got mom n dad gifts from it also to my best friend :-)

read it!!!!!
Three world famous magicians were in the bar drinking and boasting about
their achievements.
The first one said," During my latest show, I made three women from the
audience disappear, it was so convincing that their relatives started
panicking, no one could find the trick"
The second one said, " Hey, that is nothing, during one of my open air
shows I made the Municipality building disappear and the entire town was
searching for it"
The third one sighed and said," Both of you are so local, I went to
Paris and made the Eiffel Tower disappear for a full one hour, it was
live on the TV, entire France was searching for the building & no one
had a clue".
Just then an Indian walked into the bar and the three magicians suddenly
turned quiet, gave each other fugitive glances and started to slip
towards the door.
A Bartender watching this got curious and asked one of the magicians,
"Hey what happened ? Who is that guy ? "
One of the magicians whispered, "He is the World's greatest magician, he
has done the biggest disappearing trick of all times, we are all mere
amateurs compared with what he has done. His name is Ramalinga Raju. He
has made USD 1.5 billion disappear from his company's balance sheet in
front of everyone's eyes, and the entire world is still looking for it .

DAKSH '09
daksh is my coll tech fest.. its online events have already started...u all can go through,if interested u can register n play..
About Daksh
“Magic is any sufficiently advanced technology.”
- Arthur.C.Clarke
This is very true, especially in the current times. Man’s yearning to learn about the world around and his thirst for knowledge has resulted in technology manifesting itself in many forms, in a wide range of sizes from the extremely tiny to the magnificently huge. Essentially, Science and Technology define and nurture every aspect of our lives today. We at Daksh’09 wish to help propel the advancement of technology to make life and living better for mankind.
If Nirman is all about creating structures that will stand the test of time, ElectronIQ is about designing clever electronic circuits to do the biddings of us humans, their masters. The cluster Envisage is one to bring out managerial skills which is something definitely very important as evidenced by the following words of Karl Marx- “Even the greatest of armies can falter without a leader.” Robotricks is about combining the might of man and machine to overcome challenges and succeed.Compsense deals with our new-age companions, our “virtual” friends, computers, which help us in almost all aspects of life, and Chromoxone is all about probing into the purpose and reason behind our very existences. And last but not the least, Shunyakaal is about thinking on one’s feet and solving problems in the same fashion. After all, life is all about thinking impromptu too.
Daksh has always been an excellent platform to showcase developments and augmentations made to technology. This year’s edition of Daksh promises to uphold whatever it has stood for till now since its inception and for more. We invite you to participate in Daksh’09 and go back home a tad wiser and better in more ways than one. We invite you to -
Come, Learn, Get DAKSHified.

Ten Tips for writing a blog post
Here are ten tips that help me with my blog writing.
- Make your opinion known
- Link like crazy
- Write less
- 250 Words is enough
- Make Headlines snappy
- Write with passion
- Include Bullet point lists
- Edit your post
- Make your posts easy to scan
- Be consistent with your style
- Litter the post with keywords
1. Make your opinion known
People like blogs, they like blogs because they are written by people and not corporations. People want to know what people think, crazy as it sounds they want to know what you think. Tell them exactly what you think using the least amount of words possible.
2. Link like crazy.
Support your post with links to other web pages that are contextual to your post.
3. Write Less
Give the maximum amount of information with the least amount of words. Time is finite and people are infinitely busy. Blast your knowledge into the reader at the speed of sound.
4. 250 is enough
A long post is easier to forget and harder to get into. A short post is the opposite.
5. Make Headlines snappy
Contain your whole argument in your headline. Check out National newspapers to see how they do it.
6. Include bullet point lists
We all love lists, it structures the info in an easily digestible format.
7. Make your posts easy to scan
Every few paragraphs insert a sub heading. Make sentences and headlines short and to the point.
8. Be consistent with your style
People like to know what to expect, once you have settled on a style for your audience stick to it.
9. Litter the post with Keywords.
Think about what keywords people would use to search for your post and include them in the body text and headers. make sure the keyword placement is natural and does not seem out of place.
10. Edit your post
Good writing is in the editing. Before you hit the submit button, re-read your post and cut out the stuff that you don’t need.
I hope you enjoyed my tips for writing a blog post - feel free to share your own blog writing tips by commenting.
