ANTIMATTER!!!!

after reading dan brown's novel angel n demons, i really got interested in this topic...also my friend Dj is also a freak abt particle physics..so we both decided to do something on the topic..
its a very interesting topic n lot of research is going on..
a brief intro abt the topic

Everything in nature has its own counterpart Light has Dark, Day has Night and
Life has Death. Similarly for equilibrium to be maintained, matter also has its exact opposite,
named antimatter. Antimatter has a negative nucleus with positrons revolving around it. The
masses of a particle and its respective anti particle are the same. The charges are equal in
magnitude but opposite in sign. When antimatter comes into contact with matter it annihilates
and their kinetic plus rest-mass energy is converted into other particles according to the
relation E = mc2. For example, when an electron and a positron annihilate at rest, two gamma
rays, each with energy 511 keV, are produced. Theoretically the amount of energy released
from annihilation of one milligram of antimatter and matter can supply power for the whole
of New York City for one week.

The universe seems to contain no significant amounts of antimatter, despite
expectations that both should have been created equally during the big bang. So where did all
the antimatter go? One possible explanation could be a subtle and unexpected difference in
the properties of matter and antimatter, leading to a slight excess of matter which survived the
initial cataclysm of matter-antimatter annihilation. Experimenters at CERN are producing
antimatter in particle accelerators to search for and study this difference. Antimatter also has
real-life medical applications, such as positron emission tomography—PET scans. But
because producing antimatter even in minuscule quantities is very difficult.

How to prevent your PEN drive from VIRUS !!

F
riends many of your PC/laptop's normally gets virus because of Pen Drives or USB devices (Even PC's who are not connected to network ). Some Virus like Ravmon Virus , Heap41a worm which are not detected by anti virus normally spreads mostly by the Pen Drives . In such a case what can you do to prevent your PC from getting infected with Virus that spreads through USB devices or Pen Drives ?

You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below . It won't take much time.

  • Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer .

  • Now a dialogue window will popup asking you to choose among the options as shown in the

figure.

Don't choose any of them , Just simply click Cancel.

  • *Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window ..
  • *Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive. ( E.g. If it is written Kingston (I:) , then I: will be the drive letter ..)
  • *In the Command Window ( cmd ) , type the drive letter: and Hit Enter ..
  • *Now type dir/w/o/a/p and Hit Enter
  • *You will get a list of files . In the list , search if anyone of the following do exist
  • 1. Autorun.inf
  • 2. New Folder.exe
  • 3. Bha.vbs
  • 4. Iexplore.vbs
  • 5. Info.exe
  • 6. New_Folder.exe
  • 7. Ravmon.exe
  • 8. RVHost.exe or any other files with .exe Extension .

  • If you find any one of the files above , Run the command attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Hit Enter.
  • Now Delete each File using the following Command del filename ( E.g del autorun.inf ) .

WebCams Hacks!!!!

This one straight from the news centres. Though people say it is old news, well I came to know about this only a few days ago. Seriously! And experimenting with this has been real interesting.

So what is this all about?

The news entirely is that ”you can access any webcam connected to the internet using a random “google” search. Ya, google search and ‘any’ webcam except that it shouldn’t be password protected and is not being accessed by many viewers. This news has spread like wild fire and many, many people are accessing the webcams using these google search queries.

The search query used is ”inurl

Try this out yourself:

Get to the google search engine and type in inurl:view/view.shtml

You get a list of webcams accessible online, a random list of both password protected and non-protected webcams. Yeah, both kinds. Click on them and if you are lucky, you will get access to some online webcam. Lucky because, it shouldn’t be password protected and there shouldn’t be too many viewers. :D

Now that’s not the only search query that gives you random camera links. Infact there are loads of them. How do you find them out? What does inurl do?

First let’s look at what this inurl is. Using inurl you can return urls which contains the string that follows. In the example above the string is view/view.shtml. Well that was a pretty simple way to tell you what it does. (For more Google Queries, do read this pdf file named Demystifying Google Hacks by Debasis Mohanty).

Now more of those strings which gives random camera lists. (There are so many of them that listing all of them will cause lose in interest of using them, an entire list shall be provided in these pages soon. These strings have been both found by me and compiled from various websites, forums and blogs. Thanks to all those people for their effort.)

inurl:”axis-cgi/mjpg”
inurl:”ViewerFrame?Mode=Motion”
inurl:”view/index.shtml”
inurl:”MultiCameraFrame?Mode=”
inurl:indexFrame.shtml Axis

inurl:sample/LiAppl/

inurl:/control/userimage.html

inurl:”MultiCameraFrame?Mode=Motion”

Try them out using Google and see how you can make the cams turn and zoom to your clicks!

Try this one also! “TOSHIBA Network Camera - User Login” in google.

Now let me introduce you to a website where the creator has done lots of homework, making network camera access easy. Live Cameras at Griffid

And another website where the creator has classified the network cams based on the Manufacturer, the Country, the City etc. Pretty wonderful work here. Online-Cameras.de

Help me save the turtles!!!

Hi ,

I've just written to Ratan Tata asking him to not to go ahead with building a port in Dhamra, Orissa, dangerously close to one of the world's largest sea turtle nesting grounds for the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle. I think its a good idea for Mr. Tata to move the port to another location rather than endanger the turtles.

By living up to the Tatas' environmental legacy, Ratan won't just save the highly-endangered Olive Ridley Turtles, he will also end up making Tata a better company.

The only problem is that I can't bring about that change alone. I need help from lots of people, especially you.

Please do what I've done. Write directly to Ratan by clicking here

Thanks a million

XML Sitemaps => More Traffic?

WordPress has introduced, XML sitemaps for all it’s blogs as an initiative to increase the number of visitors to wordpress blogs, via search engines. It is indeed difficult for search engines to search thousands of pages, but with a map about the various links in the website, the pages and posts can be properly indexed and crawled, so that quality posts are more easily identified and they come up when searched for. That’s a good initiative and thank you wordpress team, for taking up the effort to automate the necessary steps in this concern.

Read what they have to say, here if you haven’t read about it yet.

That’s when something struck me. For the past few days, I have noticed that my visitor counts went on a low, a drop from about 120 to 50.

I don’t remember to have made any major changes that could have resulted in this drop. But now I get to co-relate events.

Investigating Possibilities
1. The sitemaps are indeed doing a great job, but for my blog it’s the other way round i suppose. When many other posts from other wordpress blogs became prominent or of more importance on the search pages, my posts lost position and were pushed down.
2. It could also be thought that the XML sitemaps has not been submitted to the search engines for all the wordpress blogs, as of now. The search engines are being informed in batches. So my blog’s sitemap has not yet been submitted to search engines and hence it’s posts are not making up to the front page of search engines, as it used to.

I shall wait for a few more days, and if I find a rise in the blog stats, then I can confirm #2, else #1. Do you think there could be any other possibilities? Do comment if you think something else could also have happened.

Orkut’s Spam Folder!!!!

Noticed this just now. Yet another intelligent inclusion from orkut. Now no need to worry about the spam messages that is sent to you via scraps and messages. They end up in your spam folder at http://www.orkut.co.in/UserSpamFolder.aspx

Find something that shouldn’t be there in your spam folder? Found something that was not a spam? You can always send it back by flagging it as NOT SPAM.
